River Rock Earrings
River rocks are as much a part of my childhood as mountain laurel and Smoky bears. They form the hardscape against which much of the Smoky Mountains National Park is set, and river rocks are used in everything from native landscaping to garden walls to siding on houses. Where I live now, seeing it seems odd and out of place, but up there, it's as natural as moss growing on a log.
I tried to recapture that in these earrings - a stepping stone path of silvery, textured pebbles, almost symmetrical but not quite. The look and feel is meant to be organic and natural, almost like the earrings grew there rather than being crafted. They measure about 2.25" (5.3 cm) long, and the silver has been oxidized and then polished to bring out the highlights. These earrings are made to order, and each pair is uniquely different from the next.
